審査講評（二次審査員）58This was my first time judging the contest, and I enjoyed seeing the many amazing submissions from Japan and elsewhere worldwide. It was tough to choose the best ones. I noticed a marked difference between pictures from Japanese and overseas entrants, and was refreshingly surprised by the clear differences in tastes and color schemes, which may be attributable to varying approaches to art education among countries and regions. Congratulations to all prizewinners, and good luck to everyone else in next year’s contest.The World Children’s Picture Contest, as the name would suggest, attracts entrants from all over the world. Subjects depend on where artists are from, but tend toward everyday matters such as living, family and food, which are common to everyone. In the process of judging, I noticed that pieces based on similar motifs were rendered in wholly different ways due to varying cultural and lifestyle considerations. I also realized how the children carefully observed and were influenced by their environments, and how they Amazing diversity in tastes and color schemesStories expressed with artistic flair 今回が初めての審査会でしたが、とても楽しく多くの作品を観ることができました。日本だけでなく、世界各国から集まったたくさんの作品はどれも力作ばかりでした。本当に甲乙つけがたい審査になりました。特に、海外の子どもたちの作品は、日本の子どもたちのそれとは大きく異なるのが大変印象的でした。国や地域によって美術教育が異なるためか、作品の持つテイストや色遣いなどが明らかに違うので、観る側にとても新鮮な驚きを与えてくれました。入選された皆さん、本当におめでとうございます。惜しくも今回入選を逃した子どもたちも、これを機会にまた来年のコンテストを目指してください。 「世界こども図画コンテスト」では世界中から作品が集まります。子どもたちの作品に描かれた事物は国によってさまざまですが、その多くは身の回りにあるもの、日々の生活、家族の情景、食べ物など、異なる国でも同様の主題が多く現れます。審査をする中で、同じモチーフが画面にあっても、文化や生活スタイルの違いで全く違ったものに見えることがあります。子どもたちが自分の周囲をよく見て、自分の感情を動かしたものと向き合いながら、それを表現する努力をしていることに気づかされます。大人の絵でも子どもの絵でも同じですが、作品を読み解きながら観るのは良いものです。一枚一枚の作品のストーリーを感じながら、鑑賞者として楽しく審査させていただきました。作品の持つテイストや色遣いの違いに新鮮な驚き一枚一枚の作品のストーリーを感じながら加か藤とう 敬たかし東京国立近代美術館館長海え老び 洋よう東京藝術大学准教授KATO Takashi Director-General, The National Museum of Modern Art, TokyoEBI YoAssociate Professor, Tokyo University of the Artsstrived to express these sentiments in their work. It’s fun to try to interpret pieces in this context, whether they’re by adults or children. I enjoyed judging the entries in my role as an art lover and sensing the various sentiments they conveyed.
